News From the Farm – Sept. 19

Brrr…it’s cold this morning! The cooler temps have officially ushered in fall! Last night we had a freeze warning so we’ll be taking a look at the summer crops the rest of the week and see if any survived. We did a flurry of harvesting at the beginning of this week anticipating that the warm-weather crops might be finished off after this freeze. However, if the freeze passed us by you may still continue to see things like tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, etc. for a couple more weeks yet. We have begun to harvest sweet potatoes and regular potatoes, but held off including them this week due to the large abundance of other produce filling the bags (vegetables that we needed to get out of the fields in case of a hard freeze.) We hope you understand and you can anticipate potatoes in the bags in the weeks ahead.
